Poetry: In Honour of Those Who....

Six Years After ...

The taxicabs were stilled,
the streets desolate.
Murky smoke,
black as enraged storm clouds,
sheathed the wounded city.
Murderous orbs of dust
plunged through the deserted streets,
clogging and choking lungs
with the debris
of lives lost.
Strangers with smudged faces
and blank, glassy eyes
stood there --
just stood there --
disbelief wrought in their
staggered expressions --
the same disbelief
that enshrouded
a nation.
